Create the Perfect About Me Page and Social Media Bios for Your Blog
This entry is part 4 of 5 in the series Blog Improvement Series 2

Writing your blog’s About Me page, as well as your social media Bio for your Blog, may not seem as important as you think it is. (Like it’s something you don’t have to do right away.) But it’s a huge part of getting found! As well as, nailing brand collaborations and allowing your audience to know, like, and trust you.

The know-like-trust factor is very important when you are trying to become an influencer to your audience. Have you ever gotten a notification that you have a new follower on your Instagram or Twitter? Then you click on their profile and they have a bio full of only emojis, it’s just blank, or looks really dodgy? What do you do? Well,  I’m guessing you do what I normally do and block them or at least, not follow them back.

As bloggers, we want to grow our following, not get blocked! So today I’m going to walk you through how to create the perfect social media bio and about me page for  your blog.

About me page

You’re about me page is one of the most important pages on your blog, it’s where you make the people who come across your blog fall in love with you and come back for more. Starting your about me page can be a little daunting but you should first answer these questions straight away.

⁉ Who is my target market?

⁉ What will they get out of visiting my site?

⁉ What am I providing for them?

⁉ What makes you unique?

⁉ Why is your blog unique and why they should continue to come back to your website?

Pro tip | Give them some direction on where to go once they have finished reading you’re about me page. An example would be a list of your most popular posts.

Now it’s time for them to find out who YOU are and to fall in love with you. Introduce yourself and tell your story. What inspired you to create your blog and how did you get started? If you let them know a little bit about yourself, it’s only going to give your audience a reason to feel even more connected with you. Make sure you add a photo of yourself!

Writing A Social Media Bio for Your Blog

A social media bio should only be short and snappy. On every platform, there is a character limit so you need to make sure that you include everything that you want people to see when they come across your profile. Including keywords that are in relation to the content that you produce so when people search for that specific keyword you pop up. Another key tip to creating social media bios is to make sure that they are same so when people come across your other profiles they will recognize you.

Instagram Bio Checklist

Some ideas on what you can include in your Instagram social media bio can be things such as:

✔ Use emojis at the start of each line to catch people’s attention

✔ What you do and who your target audience is

✔ An achievement or a piece of personal information about you

✔ Call to action

Twitter Bio Checklist

Once you have mastered your Instagram bio it can be used as a template for the rest of your bios. Such as Twitter’s social media bio!

✔ What you do and who your target audience is

✔ An achievement or a personal fact about you

✔ A call to action

✔ A link to your blog/website or a freebie that you are offering.

Pinterest Bio Checklist

Keywords are very important to  have as part of your bio because this will help people searching for certain topics to find you

✔ What you do and who your target audience is

✔ What kind of resources you provide

✔ What sort of pins you provide

The last thing you need to add is a way for your audience to keep connected with you to add your social media handles.
